Kaman operates in three diverse businesses serving aerospace, industrial distribution, and music markets. Our Aerospace and Industrial Distribution businesses achieved record operating income for 2006, and our Music business achieved record sales. Strategically, each business moved forward in its markets securing new business relationships with top-level customers. Financially the company received affirmation of its BBB- Stable investment grade rating from Standard & Poor's, and has good access to growth capital.

The company's Aerospace business includes four primary business units involving:

  • Complex metallic and composite structures for commercial, military and general aviation aircraft, including Sikorsky BLACK HAWK cockpits and Boeing 777, 787 and C-17 structures.

  • Missile and bomb fuzing systems for the U.S. and allied militaries, including the Joint Programmable Fuze.

  • Kaman SH-2G Super Seasprite helicopters and K-MAX® external-lift helicopters, and

  • Proprietary aircraft bearings and components used in almost all U.S., European, Canadian and South American military and commercial aircraft for the most demanding applications.

Kaman's Industrial Distribution business is one of the nation's leading providers of power transmission, motion control, material handling and electrical components along with a wide range of bearings. Products and value-added services are offered through a geographic footprint of over 200 locations to a customer base representing a highly diversified cross-section of North American industry.

Kaman's Music business is the largest independent distributor of musical instruments and accessories, offering products through the large retail chains and thousands of local music shops across the country and abroad. The focus is on percussion instruments, fretted instruments (principally guitars), and accessories. Proprietary products include Adamas® Applause®, Ovation®, Takamine® and Hamer® guitars; LP®, Latin Percussion® and Toca® hand percussion instruments; Gibraltar® percussion hardware, Gretsch® professional drum sets, Sabian Cymbals®, and MBT Lighting and Sound®.
