Delphi's products and services are available in all fifty states and the District of Columbia.
Delphi's primary strategic focus is selling group employee benefits to small to mid-sized employers, where nearly all of the employment growth in the American economy has occurred in the last decade. The Company's operating strategy also emphasizes consistent underwriting profitability, with the combined ratio (losses and expenses as a percentage of premiums) of Delphi's group employee benefits insurance segment being 92.4% in 2007. Delphi also has a significant asset accumulation business providing fixed annuities to individuals through a network of wholesalers, with over $1 billion in annuity assets under management.
Delphi was founded in 1987 and went public in 1990, and has a strong track record of growth in premiums and earnings. In the five years ended December 31, 2007, Delphi's core premium and fee income and operating earnings per share both grew at a compounded annual growth rate of 16%.
