In applying its extensive medical imaging knowledge to the security imaging sector, Analogic has developed the world's most advanced CT-based automatic Explosives Detection System (EDS) to examine checked luggage for aircraft. More than 850 of these EXACT® systems, marketed by L-3 Communications, are installed at airports around the world. Analogic has developed two new EDS systems under government contracts: The KING COBRAÔ addresses the unique checked baggage needs of small and mid-sized airports, and the ultra-high-speed XLBÔ 1100 addresses the needs of large, heavy-traffic airports. For checkpoint security, Analogic has developed the COBRA, the only automatic threat-detection system that generates 3-D images of all the contents of a bag or bin. The U.S. government has agreed to purchase up to 40 COBRA units over two years. With a strong new management team, and substantial engineering and manufacturing capabilities, Analogic is laying a solid foundation for long-term growth.
