Axcelis Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:ACLS), spun off from Eaton Corporation in December of 2000, has been in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing business since 1978. Axcelis, headquartered in Beverly, Massachusetts, provides innovative, high-productivity solutions for the semiconductor industry. Axcelis is dedicated to developing enabling process applications through the design, manufacture, and complete lifecycle support of ion implantation, cleaning, rapid thermal processing, and curing systems. Axcelis Technologies also licenses its 50% owned joint venture, SEN Corporation, an SHI and Axcelis Company, to manufacture and sell certain implant products in Japan. Axcelis provides extensive aftermarket service and support, including spare parts, equipment upgrades, maintenance services, and customer training. Our customers include all of the leading chip manufacturing companies worldwide such as Intel, Texas Instruments, IBM, Samsung, Sony, and ST Microelectronics.

Investing for future growth is a key strategy for Axcelis. We sustain a high level of R&D investments to assure our products meet the technical demands of the semiconductor industry.

Operating leverage is an important element of success in the very cyclical semiconductor equipment industry. Axcelis' business model is designed to sustain profitability at the lowest point in the cycle and maximize returns in the upturns.
