Albemarle Corporation is a leading global developer, manufacturer and marketer of highly engineered and innovative specialty chemicals. Our products and services enhance the value of our customers' end products by improving performance, providing essential product attributes, lowering cost and simplifying processing. We sell a highly diversified range of products, including petroleum refining products, electronics materials, building and construction materials, automotive parts, packaging, pharmaceuticals and agrichemicals. Along with our joint venture partners, we currently operate more than 40 facilities in North and South America, Europe, Australia and Asia and serve in excess of 3,400 customers in over 100 countries.

Our 2007 net sales were just over $2.3 billion. We operate in three segments: Polymer Additives, Catalysts and Fine Chemicals. Growth in our Polymer Additives segment is expected to be derived from increasing demand for electrical and electronic equipment, new construction and increasingly stringent fire safety regulations in many countries around the world. Growth in our Catalysts segment is expected to be driven by increasing demand for petroleum products, generally deteriorating quality of crude oil feedstock and implementation of more stringent fuel quality requirements as a part of anti-pollution initiatives. The Fine Chemicals segment continues to benefit from the rapid pace of innovation and the introduction of new products, coupled with a movement by pharmaceutical companies to outsource certain research, product development and manufacturing functions.

Our commercial and geographic diversity, technical expertise, low-cost global manufacturing base, and experienced management team enable us to maintain leading market positions in those areas of the specialty chemicals industry in which we operate. We are committed to providing responsible and sustainable solutions that proactively meet the needs of our clients and positively impact the world around us.
